How cool would you feel if you beat a sports car with a hot hatch? Feeling funny?amazed? Well, Volkswagen has launched its GTI batch in India. A hot hatchback with 192PS power capable of touching 0-100 km in just 7.2 seconds. This is the VW Polo GTI as the VW GTI for India launched at INR 25.99 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi). But wait, there is more exclusivity to it, there would be only 99 GTI units at launch.

The polo GTI  is powered by the 1.8 TSI turbo charged petrol engine which churns out 192 PS (189bhp) of power and 250 Nm torque mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox which already does duty on Polo TSI.

The two door Polo GTI hatch is equipped with LED headlamps, twin tip exhaust, integrated sporty spoiler, honeycomb grille, 16-inch alloys, 215/40 profile tyres, flat bottom steering wheel, contrast red upholstery stitching, touchscreen infotainment system, paddle shifters, six airbags, ABS, Hill hold assist and ESP. The polo GTI  is powered by the 1.8 TSI turbo charged petrol engine which churns out 192 PS (189bhp) of power and 250 Nm torque mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox which already does duty on Polo TSI.

Looking at the competition such as Abarth Punto at INR 10 lakh, the Polo GTI looks highly expensive and goes into the territory of Mini Cooper, making it not a solid competitor. Although it is more powerful than Abarth Punto, still for the Indian mindset it remains yet another Polo. The Polo GTI looks like another halo product for VW after their Beetle and aims to establish the VW Polo brand as a sporty and premium brand.
