Bajaj has been testing the VS 400 for quite some time. Bajaj VS 400 was rumoured to be launched as Pulsar VS 400. Some time back it was reported that VS 400 will not be launched under the sub-brand Pulsar. According to Motorbeam it is expected to launch under a new sub-brand Kratos. The Kratos brand will launch Bajaj’s premium flagship bike to take on higher CC bikes.
Bajaj Kratos VS 400 will borrow its engine from KTM Duke 390. Powered by a 373 cc single cylinder engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox churning out 34.5 Bhp. Kratos VS 400 will also get triple spark technology and a dual channel ABS. Styling cues are highly inspired from recent launched Ducati Diavel.
“The company dropped the Pulsar name because a cruiser bike under the Pulsar name makes as much sense as a 150cc bike from Royal Enfield” – Mr Ravi Bajaj
Coming to the new brand Kratos, it stands for Greek God of war. The reason to use this greek word is to connect the product traits to it’s personified message of strength, might, sovereign rule and authority. On the other Bajaj would use the nomenclature VS which stands for Vantage Sport.
Looking at the spy pics Bajaj Kratos VS 400 stands true to its name, the only thing to look out for is how Bajaj tunes the borrowed engine to establish it as a cruiser bike. It is expected to launch in November this year with an estimated price of INR 1.60 lakhs.
