After the success of the Duster SUV in India, the french automobile manufacturer Renault is now gearing up for the launch of a new MPV – Renault Lodgy. The MPV is targeted at young Indian families.
The engine line-up of the model will see a 1.5-litre dCi four-cylinder diesel engine, which can churn out 85 PS of power and 200 nm of torque and 110 PS of power and 245 nm of torque. Internationally the front wheel Renault Lodgy is also available with two petrol engines, a 1.6 L aspirated and a 1.2 L turbocharged Energy TCe 115.
The Renault Lodgy measures 4498 mm in length 1751 mm wide with a wheel base of 2810 mm. The looks for the MPV are fresh and not quirky as the Nissan Evalia. The sides are plain with least curvy lines. The front is slightly tweaked for India with additional chrome inserts on the air dam and fog lamps.
The top end Renault Lodgy is equipped with a USB, navigation and bluetooth enabled MEDIANAV system. It will be launched in 7-8 seat configuration. The boot measures 275 liters which increases to 1800 liters when the second is removed and third row seats are set flat.
At the front McPherson Strut with coil springs are at duty whereas the rear has a torsion beam and anti roll setup. Renault has not revealed the variant wise prices, but a competitive price of INR 7-9 Lakh can be expected keeping in mind strong competition by Honda, Maruti, Toyota.
