Honda Civic Diesel Imported into India

Honda Civic DieselHonda in the recent past has undergone a huge set back with diminished sales due to petrol only offerings of all its models. But Honda took a step to stay in competition in diesel dominated countries like India by introducing the new in house developed Earth Dreams diesel engine line. The I-Dtech engine powered Amaze, Mobilio and the City bought back the sales figures from the dead to top the charts again. Petrol only models of Civic, CRV and Accord made Honda to discontinue these models in India. Honda civic diesel has been imported from UK for Research and Development.

It seems after roughly two years of being discontinued, Honda Civic is being reconsidered for the Indian market with a diesel option. Major Automobile Manufacturers from Japan, Korea, France, Germany, USA have a D segment model in India but the only major player missing is Honda. Honda refused to give in to the diesel revolution in India and was adamant to give the aging Civic the 1.6 liter diesel heart that was announced for the European market resulted in a non double figure sales figure for the Civic.

The diesel powered Honda Civic will surely create a buzz for enthusiasts in India. The imported model is the ninth generation left hand drive all aluminum EathDreams 1.6 liter turbo diesel unit churning out 120 BHP and an impressive 300 NM of Torque.

Hyundai Elantra, Skoda Octavia, VW Jetta, Chevrolet Cruze and the Renault Fluence in the D segment market are already selling in diesel avatars but are surely gonna feel the heat if Honda Civic diesel is launched India.
