Auto Expo 2018: Hyundai 2018 Elite i20 Facelift Launched

Hyundai 2018 Elite i20 FaceliftIndia’s second largest manufacturer launched the Hyundai 2018 Elite i20 facelift at the Auto Expo 2018. The price for base petrol variant starts at INR 5.35 lakh and goes up to INR 7.90 lakh for the top trim. On the other hand diesel base starts at INR 6.73 lakh and tops out at INR 9.15 lakh (All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).

Hyundai 2018 Elite i20 Facelift gets tweaked styling at the front with cascade grille in gloss black finish, redesigned projector headlamps with LED DRL, inclusion of DRL above the fog lamp (Lower variant) and new fog lamp design. Tweaks at the front seem to be minor, where the change is highly visible is at the rear. Rear gets redesigned tail lamps that now accommodate the number plate as compared to the outgoing version where the number plate was on the bumper. Tail lamps have also been redesigned and the rear bumper gets a matte black dual tone finish.

Hyundai 2018 Elite i20 FaceliftProfile of Hyundai 2018 Elite i20 Facelift gets the glossy black C-pillar from its predecessor, with stylish and sporty looking 16” diamond cut alloy wheels. A new flame orange colour would also be available in addition to first-in-segment dual tone exterior options with red and orange interior colour packs.

Features have been added inside the cabin such as a 17.77 cm infotainment system which also gets an IPS panel, Arkamys premium sound system, Apple CarPlay, AndroidAuto and Mirror Link connectivity. Rear center armrest has also been added to enhance rear seat comfort.

Keeping in mind how the customers are now willing to shell out money for safety features, Hyundai has made some significant additions with 6 airbags to offer (Frontal and side protection) and ISOFIX seats. Even the base variant now gets dual front air bags, ABS and speed sending auto door lock as a standard feature.  

Under the hood, the new Hyundai 2018 Elite i20 facelift comes with a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine. This engine will deliver 82 bhp and 115 Nm of power and torque, respectively. Diesel duties will be delivered by a turbocharged 1.4-litre unit, the same as the older one, delivering 89 bhp and 220 Nm and mated to a six-speed manual transmission. But, it gets a more powerful 99 bhp 1.4-litre dual VTVT petrol engine that comes mated to a 4-speed automatic torque converter. The new Hyundai Elite i20 will take on the Ford Figo, Honda Jazz and Maruti Suzuki Baleno, along with other premium hatchbacks in contention right now in India.
